xera in the Community.

Xera is proud to play an active role in our community. One of our company values reads:

“We recognise that we are part of a local, national and global community and understand that communities are built on a mix of involvement and support for those who are less fortunate than others. We will do what we can, when we can, to promote a sense of community wherever we operate.”

Specifically, we provide financial and pro-bono support to each of the following organisations and individuals.

Give Where You Live.

Give Where You Live aims to provide leadership to create a Geelong and regional community in which all people can reach their full potential, not constrained by health, education or income disadvantage.

Xera proudly supports the Businesses Investing In Geelong (BIG) program where businesses of all shapes and sizes contribute financially or “in kind” to support the work of the organisation throughout the Geelong and regional community.

In September 2016, Jess became the first Australian Paralympian or Olympian to win a medal at both a Summer and Winter Games (Slalom 2010 – Bronze, Giant Slalom 2014 – Bronze and Cycling 1km Time Trial 2016 – Bronze). In addition, she won the Gold Medal in the Sprint UCI World Para-cycling Championship in May 2016, breaking the world record.

Xera is really proud to have been working with Jess during the past few years and we are pleased to have been able to support her with a number of pro bono projects as she starts her career as a motivational speaker.

Alex Witherden.

As part of our commitment to supporting young and elite sportspeople, Xera sponsors a first or second year Brisbane Lions player each year. Given our allegiance to the club, we also feel that, rather than supporting one of the higher profile players, we would prefer to give one of the younger, less-established players our support. In previous years, we have sponsored:

  • 2014 – Tom Cutler
  • 2015 – Nick Robertson
  • 2016 – Rhys Mathieson

Like Rhys, our 2017 sponsored player is also a Geelong boy – Alex Witherden.

Alex played his junior football with the Geelong Falcons and for his school, The Geelong College, and was selected by the Lions as pick #23 in the 2016 National Draft. He missed a lot of football during 2016 after suffering a broken leg in a school match but still rated very highly in the 2016 Draft.

We are really excited to be supporting Alex during 2017.

Geelong Chamber of Commerce.

Xera is also a member of the Geelong Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber exists to be the “voice” of Geelong’s business community – working to protect, support and nurture business in the Geelong region. As Geelong’s premier business representative body, the Chamber advocates on behalf of all forms of business – micro, small, medium and large – ensuring that industries have a say on the issues that impact upon the economic viability of business and the region as a whole. The Chamber also has the important role of being the “go to” place for information that allows business to enhance its skill base, explore new directions and grow its market share – whatever the industry.
